SIKESTON, Mo. -- Work to replace the U.S. 61 bridge over Apple Creek in Perry County will begin June 13, weather permitting. As work continues, the road will remain closed from Route F in Perry County to Route KK in Cape Girardeau County. Completion is anticipated in mid-August. Signs and warning devices will be in place. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area. The U.S. 61 bridge will be the third and final bridge in Perry County to receive improvements through the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program.
