Karen Altenthal of Cape Girardeau, a vocational home economics major at Southeast Missouri State University, has received the Lilly Brucher Gehrs Scholarship for the 1991 fall semester.

Recipients are selected by the environmental studies department. The scholarship is open to Kappa Omicron Phi members with high academic achievement and leadership in home economics.

Altenthal, a junior, is a member of the Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society and the Kappa Omicron Nu Sorority. A former recipient of the Lucile Farrar Russell Memorial, a scholarship based on academic performance of home economics majors, Altenthal's academic achievements include making the dean's honor lists.

She graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School.
