The London Theatre Experience 1997, a 10-day study tour of the London theatre scene, will be sponsored by the University Theatre in December.

An organization meeting for the trip will be held Monday at Grauel Building Room 316 on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. It begins at 6 p.m.

Participants will attend four performances: a West End musical, a holiday pantomime, a dance performance and a Shakespearean play.

The trip is scheduled Dec. 26 to Jan. 4.

The itinerary includes the Henley Street house in Stratford where Shakespeare was born, Anne Hathaway's cottage, backstage tour of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, Westminster and Windsor Castle.

There will also be free days reserved for individual sightseeing, day trips, shopping and additional theatre performances.

The tour will be led by Dennis C. Seyer, a professor of speech communication and theatre at Southeast. He is the University Theatre's scenic and lighting designer and technical director.

He has led theater tours to New York for more than 20 years and was the resident director of the university's London exchange program at Roehamption Institute Wimbledon, during the spring of 1992.

Those who wish to earn university credit cane take a companion course in connection with the tour.
