UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (AP) -- A suburban St. Louis detective was in stable condition Thursday, a day after being shot by a suspect.
The University City detective and a colleague were in the city of St. Louis Wednesday night to question a man regarding a domestic dispute.
The man took off running. The detective gave chase before the man turned and fired a shot that struck the detective in the leg.
The detective returned fire. He told authorities he may have struck the suspect, who got away.
Names of the suspect and the detective were not released.
