A Southeast Missouri State University shuttle bus and a van were involved in an accident around 2 p.m. in the 300 block of Broadway in Cape Girardeau. The crash happened at the intersection of Broadway and Lorimier Street.
The bus had front-end damage, while the van was damaged in the back and front. People riding in the bus said a blue four-door car was also involved in the accident. It collided with the van and sped from the scene, they said.
No information was known just after 2 p.m. on the extent of injuries of those involved, though no one on the bus appeared to be injured.
A license plate from the car that fled the scene was left behind, and police were using it to track the suspect.
Sgt. Jason Selzer, spokesman for the police department, said just before 5 p.m. Wednesday that the suspect hadn't been found yet.
