United Way, VIC honor outstanding area volunteers

The United Way of Southeast Missouri and the Volunteer Intergenerational Center on Tuesday recognized the efforts of outstanding volunteers in Southeast Missouri at the 18th annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon.

The winners were chosen from nearly 20 nominees in four categories. Amanda Landgraf was selected in the youth category for her work with the Lutheran Home for the Aged, adult volunteer Joan Drury was selected for her work with Court Appointed Special Advocates, senior adult Frank Crites was selected for his work with Southeast Hospice, and Linda and Eddie Farrow received the group award for their work with Mississippi Valley Therapeutic Horsemanship.

"Volunteering is such a wonderful thing that can brighten many people's lives," said Marla Mills, assistant director of the United Way of Southeast Missouri. "These individuals really went above and beyond the call of duty."
