The United Way of Southeast Missouri is in need of volunteers for the Read to Succeed program, the group said in a release Wednesday. Read to Succeed helps area students in kindergarten and first grade improve their literacy. With the program expanding to cover the entire Cape Girardeau School District, more volunteers are needed.
Two training sessions for volunteers are scheduled. Those interested only need to attend one. The first session will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Cape Girardeau Public Library, 711 N. Clark Ave. The second is 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 15 at the Cape Girardeau School Board office at 301 N. Clark Ave.
Anyone interested can contact Monique Johnson at the United Way of Southeast Missouri at 334-9634.
