The United Way of Southeast Missouri announced Thursday at its annual meeting that more than $1 million was raised by its 2012 campaign.
Contributions for 2012 total $1,002,638, said Kevin Greaser, board president, during the event at Drury Lodge. The goal was $950,000.
Jeff Cunningham of KFVS12 emceed and presented annual Spirit Awards, created to recognize an individual, a company and an agency "who have not only shown their support of the United Way and its mission, but who exemplify the spirit of sharing of themselves with their neighbors and community," according to an organization news release.
The Spirit of Giving Award was presented to Stafford Moore, who passed away earlier this year after a two-year battle with cancer.
The Spirit of Community Award was presented to Schnucks.
The Spirit of Caring Award was presented to First Call for Help.
