The Area Wide United Way is conducting annual agency reviews this week and next week in an attempt to better understand how agencies benefit from United Way support.

The contributions and donations that help serve Cape Girardeau, Jackson and Scott City are used in 32 local programs and agencies. More than 50 people, including campaign volunteers, board members and others, are involved in the review. process. Each of the agencies requesting funding is required to make a presentation to the panel.

The verbal presentation helps explain the agency's allocation request, its budget and program information.

Input from the reviews and presentation will be summarized for the United Way board of directors at its May meeting. At that meeting, programs will be selected to receive funding from the upcoming 2001 campaign. Specific dollar allocations will be made following the campaign's completion in December.
