The United Way of Southeast Missouri has expanded the Read to Succeed program to all five elementary schools in the Cape Girardeau public school district, according to a news release. According to the release 140 local volunteers have spent over 10,000 hours with children in the program. The goal of Read to Succeed is for 85 percent of the students to complete the program at the appropriate reading level. A total of 212 students in kindergarten and the first grade will be served this school year. For more information contact Monique Johnson at the United Way at 334-9634.
