Workers with Fronabarger Concreters Inc. chat Monday next to part of a box culvert they are placing in a creek that runs along the Walnut Street extension. According to a news release from the city of Cape Girardeau, long-term road work will close part of South West End Boulevard from Route 74 to Linden Street in Cape Girardeau beginning Wednesday. This will affect entrances to the Shawnee Park Sports Complex, Shawnee Park Center and routes to the Cape Girardeau County Public Health Center. Detours will help direct traffic around the work. The project is expected to be finished in late summer or possibly fall.
