SIKESTON, Mo. -- A 53-year-old Sikeston man was fatally injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday, according to a Sikeston Department of Public Safety news release.

SIKESTON, Mo. -- A 53-year-old Sikeston man was fatally injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday, according to a Sikeston Department of Public Safety news release.

Sikeston police responded to the accident at Route Y and Route BB at 4:16 p.m. Police found two vehicles with "severe impact damage" at the scene and found Shannon Huntley in serious condition. A nurse at the scene tried CPR on Huntley. He was taken to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, where he died of his injuries.

The accident happened when the car Huntley was riding in was traveling northbound on Route Y and was struck by a vehicle attempting to cross the road at the Route BB intersection.

The two people in the vehicle that struck Huntley's were treated for minor injuries. Three other people were in the vehicle with Huntley. The driver had moderate injuries and the other two passengers had minor

injuries.

Sikeston police didn't release the names of anyone involved in the accident other than Huntley.
