SEDGEWICKVILLE, Mo. -- Three teenagers were seriously injured Tuesday afternoon when their vehicle was struck by a truck near Sedgewickville.

Two 16-year-old girls and an 18-year-old woman were traveling on county Route K in a 1999 Saturn when a 1989 Ford pickup truck failed to yield as it pulled from a private drive. The Saturn struck the truck, which slid off the roadway and hit a tree, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The woman and one girl were taken by ambulance to a Cape Girardeau-area hospital. The other 16-year-old girl was taken to the hospital by helicopter. All were reported in serious condition, the patrol stated. The driver of the truck, a 17-year-old boy, was not injured.

The names of those involved were not released by authorities.
