OLMSTED, Ill. -- Randy C. Neely and Bobby J. Robertson led the balloting in an eight-person race for three positions for the Olmsted Board of Trustees during the municipal election here Tuesday, with 55 and 51 votes.
But the third position won't be decided until later. David Munsell and Gary J. Stephens were deadlocked at 49 votes. The city will determine the winner for the third position.
Other candidates and their vote totals were Curtis Marshall, 48; Bobby G. Killius, 42; Phillip Ramsey, 43; and Loyd Wayne Helton, 30.
Four contested races were listed in communities in Pulaski County.
Dewey G. Dixon Jr. defeated Linda Sue Maborn for the Ward III Mounds alderman position, 64 to 9. Two aldermen were unopposed. Ronald E. Diggs was elected from Ward I and John E. Britton Jr, from Ward II.
Bill "Red" Everett, Stanley Kesler and James P. Rarrick were elected in the four-person race for Ullin aldermen. Everett led the ballot with 88 votes. Kesler had 76 votes and Rarrick, 72. Roy A. McHarry finished with 55 votes
Barbara McElmurry, Lexie Pigee and Hazel Tolar were winners at Pulaski where four people were vying for three positions. McElmurry led the balloting with 51 votes, followed closely by Pigee with 50. Tolar had 42 votes. Mike Newell Jr., the fourth candidate, finished with 33 votes.
In Unopposed races:
Jack Roberts was elected to fill an unexpired two-year term for Pulaski mayor; Chase Madison, Arthur Ellis Jr. and Lawrence A. Badgley were elected Grand Chain trustees; Stephen Anderson, Steward Goins and Roger Altenberger were winners for three Karnak trustee positions, and James Davis and Carl E. Bode were winners in Ward I and Ward II respectively in Mound City.
