Two women reported to Cape Girardeau police they were raped while asleep, one from last weekend and one from more than six years ago.

The most recent alleged attack occurred around 6:30 a.m. Saturday on the city's northwest side, according to police spokesman Jason Selzer.

A Bellevue, Ill., woman went out with her friends Friday night and was introduced to a 22-year-old man. At the end of the night, the woman and her friends went back to the man's home, according to Selzer.

The woman claimed she woke up early Saturday morning to the man having sex with her, Selzer said. She reported the incident to police on Monday.

In a separate, unrelated incident, another woman reported to police Monday that she was raped six years ago, Selzer said. Like the recent case, the woman claimed she was raped while asleep.

According to the woman, she passed out during a going-away party for a factory worker on Cape Girardeau's west side in April 2000, Selzer said.

When the woman woke up, a man she met at the party was having sex with her, according to Selzer. The woman believed someone drugged the beer she was drinking at the party.

She only knows the man's first name and believed he moved out of state.

While the victim did not want to pursue charges, she did want to make a record of the incident in case a similar rape occurred with the same man, according to Selzer.

No arrests had been made in either case, and police were investigating, he said.
