ST. LOUIS -- An acquaintance of a former St. Louis Housing Authority worker has been sentenced to a year and eight months in federal prison in a bribery scheme involving waiting lists for subsidized housing. The former worker was ordered to spend three years on probation.

U.S. District Judge Donald Stohr imposed the prison sentence Friday on Evelyn Williams, and sentenced Monica Ross, 44, to probation.

Ross was a specialist in the Section 8 housing program, which helps low-income residents subsidize rent. Both pleaded guilty in July to one felony count of conspiracy to solicit and accept bribes by a public official.
