~Correction: A story in Friday's Southeast Missourian on the Chaffee Public Schools Board of Education election carried wrong information. Sharon Crowden is running for the one-year unexpired term, not the three-year term. Also seeking the seat are Jerry Wolsey and Gregg Ourth.
Both incumbents for the two three-year terms, Larry Meyr and Dale Tierney, are unchallenged. (CORRECTION RAN 3-31-91, PAGE 11A)
CHAFFEE - Two races for seats on the Chaffee Board of Education will be decided in Tuesday's election.
Three candidates, including two incumbents, are running for two three-year terms, while two other candidates are competing for an unexpired, one-year term on the school board.
Running for the three-year terms are incumbents Larry Meyr and Dale Tierney and challenger Sharon Crowden. The one-year term is being sought by Gregg L. Ourth and Jerry Wolsey.
Meyr, 46, is a farmer and the school board's president. He would enter his fourth, three-year term if re-elected.
Crowden, 39, of the community of Rockview, is a housewife. She was defeated in an election bid for the school board three years ago, she said.
Crowden has served as president of the district's Parents and Teachers Association the last three years and is a member of the district's parent advisory board.
Ourth, 34, of 909 South Second Street, is a political newcomer in Chaffee. He manages the Chaffee IGA supermarket and for four years has been a manager with the school district's Youth Basketball program.
Wolsey, 39, is making his first bid for the school board. Currently, he is a member of the Chaffee City Council, representing Ward 1.
Wolsey is a 15-year law enforcement veteran, with time spent as a Scott County deputy sheriff and as Chaffee's police chief. He operates Wolsey Investigative Service Inc., an investigative and security agency in Chaffee.
Tierney, who is seeking re-election to the school board, could not be reached for comment Thursday.
