Two Southeast Missouri drivers were killed in traffic accidents Sunday.

Christina White, 20, of Ellsinore, Mo., died early Sunday morning after her vehicle slid off the road and hit a tree.

White was driving on U.S. 60, seven miles east of Ellsinore when she lost control of the car and slid off the north side of the road, according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. She had been wearing a seat belt.

She was pronounced dead at Three Rivers North medical campus in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

George Hooten, 47, of Holcomb, Mo., died in an accident Sunday afternoon. He was driving on Highway 25 just south of Clarkton in Dunklin County.

Hooten attempted to pass a vehicle driven by Valerie Vaughn, 18, of Holcomb, when he side-swiped Vaughn's vehicle. Hooten's vehicle overturned and he was thrown from the vehicle.

He had not been wearing a seat belt, the highway patrol reported.
