CREVE COEUR, Mo. -- Two of the Otten sextuplets were headed home Wednesday after they were released from the hospital, officials said.
The premature sextuplets were born April 9. All are expected to be released gradually as they gain weight and are able to take a bottle, St. John's Mercy Medical Center said.
Tyler, at 6 pounds, 3 ounces, and Madison, at 4 pounds, 7 ounces, were released. All six children are in good condition, the suburban St. Louis hospital said.
Parents Ron and Tina Otten, of Granite City, Ill., already had two daughters, Hannah, 4, and Abigail, 2, before the birth of their new three boys and three girls.
Tina Otten is the granddaughter of Dean and Dorothy Campbell of Cape Girardeau.
The couple underwent fertility treatments to conceive their two older daughters, and used the identical method when they wanted to conceive for a third time. The Ottens said they never dreamed the fertility drug they used would result in a pregnancy of six babies.
The family plans to move into a five-bedroom house to accommodate their new members. Tina Otten previously said the couple has been swamped with offers of help from family, friends, and neighbors.
