CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. -- The armed robbery of two nuns is under investigation by Caruthersville police.
According to Caruthersville police chief Chris Riggs, officers were called to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 9:40 p.m. Friday to investigate the robbery. Two nuns at the church told officers they were walking to the parking lot when a man approached them. The man displayed a gun and took a purse and cell phone then forced the women back into the school before fleeing on foot.
The suspect is described a male, about 18 to 24 years of age. He was 5-feet 6-inches tall and had a slender build. At the time of the incident the assailant was said to be wearing all black clothing and had on a white mask.
Neither woman was injured in the incident, according to the news release.
