PARIS, Mo. (AP) -- Two Paris teenagers are dead after the car they were in crashed on an icy highway in northeast Missouri.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says 17-year-old Alicia Carter and 18-year-old Kayla Carter, died after the accident Thursday. The patrol says Alicia Carter lost control of the car on an icy curve on Highway 15, about three miles south of Paris in Monroe County.

The car went off the road, struck a concrete culvert and creek embankment and then overturned.

Alicia Carter died at an area hospital. Kayla Carter was pronounced dead at the scene.

Information on how the teens were related was not immediately released.
