TWO MEN FROM AREA DIE IN AUTO ACCIDENTS

Two area men were killed in separate automobile accidents Saturday.

A Cape Girardeau man died Saturday night in a single-car accident on Cape Girardeau County Road 638. An Alto Pass, Ill., man died in a single-car accident Saturday morning near East Avenue in Anna, Ill.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Bradley Followell, 42, of Cape Girardeau died at 10:15 p.m. at the scene after the 1985 Oldsmobile he was driving ran off the road, struck a tree and caught fire. Followell was driving west and the accident occurred three miles north of Cape Girardeau.

The Illinois State Police said Berry Pearson, 26, of Alto Pass died at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau after the car he was driving struck a guy wire to a utility pole on Illinois 146 and then overturned.

Pearson was thrown from the vehicle and suffered severe head injuries, police said.
