STEELE, Mo. -- Two masked men armed with a gun entered a Steele nursing home April 14, possibly in search of narcotics, according to a news release issued Monday by Steele police chief Billy Joe Stanfield.

The Steele Police Department received a 911 call from the River Oaks Nursing Center early that day.

Staff members said two men both wearing masks, one armed with a handgun, entered the nursing home and ordered staff inside a bathroom, the news release said. The suspects went through a purse belonging to one of the employees, but nothing was taken.

"At this time it is unclear the motive of the suspects, although it is suspected they may have been after narcotics," Stanfield reported.
