BENTON, Mo. -- Two local men are behind bars after being arrested on drug charges after a narcotic investigation in Sikeston, Mo.
According to Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter, Kermit Gillespie, 37, of Wyatt, Mo., and Lorenzo Robinson, 36, of Sikeston were charged with felony distribution of a controlled substance and misdemeanor unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
Walter said his office began investigating information of heroin being transported and distributed between Charleston, Mo., and Sikeston late last week, leading to a sting operation Thursday afternoon.
According to Walter, at the time of arrest, Gillespie and Robinson were found to be in possession of heroin packaged in individual bags for distribution. The estimated street value of the heroin was set at $1,000.
Both men remain in custody in the Scott County Jail. Bond has been set at $50,000.
