FREDERICKTOWN -- A 35-year-old Marquand man was killed Sunday in a single-car crash on Route J, about 10 miles northeast of Fredericktown.
A spokesman for the Missouri State Highway Patrol said Cecil Smith's westbound vehicle left the roadway as he was attempting to pass another vehicle at about 1:35 p.m. Sunday.
The vehicle went into the ditch on the left side of the roadway, overturned and ejected the driver. Smith was not wearing a seat belt, police said.
A Marquand woman died Sunday as a result of the injuries she sustained in a Feb. 6, crash, on Route A, three miles east of Cherokee Pass, Mo.
Carol Frick, 27, was eastbound when on Route A when her vehicle left the right side of the roadway, struck an embankment and rolled several times, throwing the Frick from the vehicle.
Frick was seriously injured in the accident. She died Sunday morning at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
