BENTON -- Two students from Thomas Kelly High School have been selected to attend the 50th session of Missouri Girls State.
Kara Heuring of New Hamburg and Wendy Wooldridge of Benton were selected by their teachers to represent the high school.
Girls State will be held June 16-23 on the William Woods College campus in Fulton. Approximately 600 young women from Missouri who have completed their junior year in high school will participate.
Heuring is the daughter of Norman and Dorothy Heuring of New Hamburg. She is a member of Future Homemakers of America, Students Against Driving Drunk, Pep Club, Beta Club and Science Club and plays softball and basketball. She has received the American History and the "I Dare You" leadership awards. She also attended the Sophomore Pilgrimage.
Wooldridge is the daughter of Ron and Mary Wooldridge of Benton. She is a member of Future Homemakers of America, Students Against Driving Drunk, Pep Club, Beta Club, Science Club and band and plays basketball and runs track. She will serve as president of the Future Homemakers of America during her senior year.
