SIKESTON, Mo. -- A stabbing early Thursday at a Sikeston bar injured at least two people.
About 1:20 a.m. the Sikeston Department of Public Safety received a call in reference to a disturbance with a weapon at Cheers Bar and Grill, located at 1212 Linn St., according to a news release from police spokesman Lt. Jim McMillen. Police were told one subject was armed with a knife and fighting staff members.
Upon their arrival, police found one employee holding down the suspect -- who was holding a knife in his hands -- in front of the business, according to the release. The employee told the officers that the suspect had just stabbed another person, McMillen said.
Officers then detained the suspect and removed the knife from his hand.
Two employees suffered injuries, which are believed to be not life-threatening.
Cory Hamra, 26, of Sikeston was arrested and taken to DPS headquarters. He was later charged with two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action.
