A driver of a Chevy Malibu heading north on Interstate 55 lost control, crossed the median and T-boned into a Nissan SUV, heading south this morning. The driver of the Malibu and the front seat passenger of the Nissan were taken away in ambulances, and the passenger in the Nissan reported minor chest pain, Lt. John Davis of the Cape Girardeau Police Department said.
"We just saw her come right across the median and couldn't stop," Amanda Price, the driver of the SUV said.
The accident took place at 11:10 a.m. around mile marker 98 and was cleared around noon.
Police don't know if drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident.
Price was in town from South Carolina visiting her family in Jackson.
While injuries were minor, Price grimaced when she saw the tow-truck take her car to its lift, dragging her front bumper along the ground, and thought of something she forgot.
"I've got to get my iPods out of there," she said.
