KELSO - A vehicle overturned Saturday evening two miles east of Kelso, injuring two area men.

Bill Crites, 22, of Oran, sustained serious injuries, and Eric Welter, 22, was also hurt in the accident, said a spokesperson with the Missouri Highway Patrol at Poplar Bluff.

Both went to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, he said. Crites was listed in stable condition, while Welter was treated and released, a hospital spokesperson said Sunday night.

The accident occurred on Route PP at 8:20 p.m. According to the spokesperson, the 1987 Ford driven east by Welter rounded a curve, ran off the road and overturned two miles east of Kelso.

Welter was cited for failure to drive on the right half of the roadway, he said.
