Two convicted felons with outstanding arrest warrants led Cape Girardeau police on a chase on residential streets north of downtown Monday evening.

Brandee R. Young, 29, a homeless woman, and Christopher L. Eskew, 22, who gave his address as County Road 324, were arrested after Young overturned her car in the escape attempt, said Cpl. Ike Hammonds, spokesman for the police department.

An officer began following Young when he passed her as she drove south on North Sprigg Street without her lights on after 9 p.m., Hammond said. After the officer attempted to stop the 2004 GMC Yukon, Young turned onto Olive Street and then turned north on Chestnut Street.

After a chase of several blocks, Young lost control near Mechaw Drive and rolled the vehicle, Hammonds said.

Young was wanted for absconding from parole and warrants for traffic violations, Hammonds said. Eskew was wanted on a parole violation and failure-to-appear warrants, he said.
