A Cape Girardeau man and a Perryville child were killed in separate traffic accidents in Southeast Missouri.

Phillip Rainey, 43, of Cape Girardeau was killed when his vehicle ran off a Cape Girardeau County road and struck a tree about 6 a.m. Wednesday. The accident happened two miles north of Cape Girardeau on County Road 635, the Missouri Highway Patrol reported.

Rainey was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol said. His body was taken to Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau..

Amy Webb, 2, of Perryville, was killed late Monday night when the vehicle she was riding in crossed the center line and struck a vehicle. Four people in the vehicle were seriously injured and taken to area hospitals. The accident happened at 11:45 p.m. on Route M in Perry County just east of U.S. 61.

Injured were James Lee, 25, Christy Lee, 21, and Megan Lee, 1, all of Perryville.

James Lee was driving the car. Lee's vehicle crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by Carrie Leadbetter, 17, of St. Mary, the patrol said. Leadbetter's vehicle then hit the right passenger door of the other car.

James Lee, Megan Lee and Leadbetter were all taken to Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville. Christy Lee was taken by helicopter to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

The child had been restrained in a child-safety seat, the patrol said.
