SIKESTON, Mo. - Two teens are in custody awaiting arraignment following a disturbance at Friday's high school basketball game.

Sikeston Department of Public Safety officers arrested two 18-year-old males from Charleston. Laterrance A. Caldwell was charged with resisting arrest and peace disturbance and is in custody at the Scott County Jail under $2,500 cash-only bond. Charged with assault on a police officer, peace disturbance and resisting arrest was Marvin J. Clark, who is currently in custody under a $5,000 cash-only bond.

According to a news release issued by Sgt. Jim McMillen, DPS public information officer, the Sikeston-Charleston game was under way around 8 p.m. Friday at Sikeston's Field House when some of the fans became agitated and began yelling profanities in the crowd.

Public safety's school resource officers were there monitoring the game and responded to the bleachers where the disturbance was taking place. One suspect continued to yell profanities and then attempted to pull away from the officers while they were removing him from the building.

The officers then placed him under arrest , however the man continued to resist until the two officers were able to handcuff him.

As the officers were escorting him from the building another disturbance erupted in this same area. A second individual was placed under arrest, however, he, too, resisted arrest and began pulling away from the officer on the eighth row of the school's bleachers.

"During the arrest, both the officer and the combative arrestee fell down the bleachers and onto the gym floor," said McMillen. "Neither was seriously injured during the fall."
