Two women sustained moderate injuries when one vehicle struck the other in the rear Tuesday afternoon near Cape Girardeau.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2004 Dodge driven by Kaylee M. Edmonds, 19, of Jackson was traveling on Route K a mile west of Cape Girardeau around 4:30 p.m.

The Dodge then rear-ended a 1995 Chrysler driven by Jessica L. Evans, 24, of Cape Girardeau, the highway patrol said.

Both vehicles suffered moderate damage. Edmonds was taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau while Evans was transported by a private vehicle to the hospital for treatment.
