Two Cape Girardeau men have been charged with first-degree assault in a beating so severe police said that the victim's blood was splattered on the walls of the home where he was found on Bloomfield Street on March 20.

The victim remained hospitalized Friday in serious condition, said Cape Girardeau Police Department spokesman Darin Hickey.

Brandon Geiger, 20, is being held at the Cape Girardeau County Jail on a $150,000 cash-only bond. Brandon Moss, 33, is being held in another Southeast Missouri jurisdiction on a $50,000 cash or surety bond, Hickey said.

"This is definitely still an ongoing investigation," Hickey said. "There may be more arrests. If more suspects are identified, we'll be attempting to find them."

Police responded Sunday morning to a report of a broken out window at the 1800 block of Bloomfield Street. Police looked in the window, Hickey said, and saw a male lying face down on the floor with blood splattered on the wall and the floor. The man was unresponsive and was taken to an area hospital. Moss was arrested earlier this week in another jurisdiction, which Hickey could not immediately identify.
