Two Cape Girardeau Central High School students have received Governor's scholarships to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 1994-95 academic year.
Aaron Bruening and Kimberly Pulley are among 55 students from 13 states who have been awarded the scholarships, the most prestigious academic honor given beginning freshmen at Southeast.
The Governor's Scholarship covers incidental fees for up to 16 credit hours per semester for two semesters of the freshman year, in addition to textbook rental and a room and board package. It's renewable for six additional semesters if a 3.5 cumulative grade point average is maintained and students successfully complete a minimum of at least 30 credit hours per academic year. The scholars also participate in a mentoring program.
Pulley, the daughter of Gene and Judy Pulley, ranked first in the high school class of 247. She was president of the student council, Beta Club, and student senate.
Bruening, the son of Jim and Fay Bruening, ranked second in the high school class. He was a scholar athlete and president of the high school's National Honor Society.
