Two Southeast Missouri Jaycees chapters were honored at the national meeting of the Jaycees June 11 in Minneapolis.
The Jackson Jaycees chapter was awarded second place nationwide in its size category for their haunted house project. The Sikeston Jaycees chapter was awarded third place in their size category for their project, the Sikeston Jaycees Bootheel Rodeo.
Both projects were the only two financial-management projects in Missouri to be recognized on the national level.
The financial-management category is the most competitive category in the competition. It encompasses all projects, which have as one of their primary objectives the raising of funds for the general benefit of the community.
