Turnout light in Bollinger County

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Voter turnout was light in Tuesday's Bollinger County municipal and school board elections with 9 percent of eligible voters casting ballots.

In Marble Hill, Tim McCain won as alderman for Ward 1; he was unopposed. James Sear was re-elected in Ward 2 by write-in votes. Also receiving write-in votes were Ken Trentham, Fred Ritter, Mitch Miller, Bill Wilcox, Beverly Johnson and Mike Morris.

In Glenallen, Eldon Woodfin and Allen Clark were elected to the town board. Sedgewickville had no race; two candidates filed for two seats. And in Zalma five candidates filed for five open seats.

John L. Whitlow swept through the race for a lone open seat on the North County Fire Board, defeating Darrell Hornback.

In the Sedgewickville Fire Department board race, Faron Hanners, James J. Pate and Pamela Sue James were elected.

In Zalma, all five seats were open, and only Joe Newell filed for a two-year unexpired term, winning it. Other write-in votes were cast for Alvin Fox, Bobby Bennett, Ashley Newell, Donnie Sitze, Scott Cato, Buddy Metlock, Christina Burchett, David Wilhelm and Brad Barrett.

The two top write-in vote getters for Zalma Fire Department's six-year term are LeRoy Lemons and Donnie Sitze.

Other write-ins were Alvin Fox, Eric Lemons, Gary Beal, Kenny McFerron, Scott Cato, Raymond Fish, Darrell Fish, Dudley Medlock, Brian Bennett and Lee Wilfong.

An unexpired four-year term will be filled by Donnie Sitze. Sitze also received the most votes for the six-year term. County Clerk Diane Holzum said it will be up to the fire department board to decide which term Sitze will serve and who will fill the remaining position. Other write-ins for that position were Don Holmes, Eric Lemons, Alvin Fox, Scott Cato, Marty Shelby, Aaron Lemons, Scott Lemons and LeRoy Lemmons.
