SPRINGFIELD -- The Illinois Department of Conservation has issued 12,852 wild turkey hunting permits through its recent permit lottery. "About 95 percent of the people who applied received a hunting permit," said conservation director Mark Frech. The DOC received 13,466 applications. Only 613 had to be returned.

The three firearms turkey season for 1991 will be April 8-12; April 13-19; and April 20-May 1.
