TURKEY PERMITS
SPRINGFIELD -- The Illinois Department of Conservation has issued 12,852 wild turkey hunting permits through its recent permit lottery. "About 95 percent of the people who applied received a hunting permit," said conservation director Mark Frech. "There was an increase in application of about four percent. we issued about 500 more permits this year than we did during the 1990 lottery."...

The DOC received 13,466 applications. Only 613 had to be returned.
The three firearms turkey season for 1991 will be April 8-12; April 13-19; and April 20-May 1.
