Tammy Parrish of Cape Girardeau has been awarded a full-tuition scholarship to attend Stephens College in Columbia.
She was one of 73 students who competed in February for four Stephens College Honors Scholarships. The students represented 23 states and had an average grade point average of 3.8, an average ACT score of 27 and an average SAT score of 1140.
Parrish also is the recipient of a renewable Bright Flight scholarship. To qualify, students must attain a score of 30 or higher on the ACT.
A senior at Cape Girardeau Central High School, Parrish is president of the Patriotic Club, secretary and treasurer of the National Honor Society and a member of the Speech and Debate Club.
She also has been a member of the Beta Club, received first place in the Evening Optimist essay contest, is a commended student in the National Merit Scholarship Program and has been selected one of the top 20 students in her graduating class.
She is the daughter of Buddy and Marsha Parrish, and plans to pursue a career in fashion design at Stephens. Stephens College is the second oldest residential women's college in the United States.
