The Missouri Highway Patrol said Eugenio Flores, 41, of Harlingen, Texas, was fatally injured when his tractor-trailer struck the pillar of a railroad overpass near the 46-mile marker of Interstate 55.

A passenger, Conrado Benavidez, 26, of Brownsville, Texas, received serious injuries and was flown to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, the patrol said.
The accident occurred about 2:30 a.m.
