Six Boy Scouts from Troop 10 at First Baptist Church have earned the highest award in Scouting the rank of Eagle Scout. The scouts were among those honored at the Southeast Missouri Boy Scout Council's Court of Honor Saturday in Academic Hall auditorium.

Scoutmaster of Troop 10 is Bob White.

Those earning the Eagle Scout rank include Benjamin Keele, Scott Hartline, Jeremiah Lee, Kris Naeger, Joshua Lee, and Eric McGowen.

Benjamin Keele is the son of Jerry and Melba Keele of Cape Girardeau. He earned 21 merit badges and devoted 23 hours to complete his service project. He painted and refinished Shelter No.8 at Arena Park to help maintain and improve the city parks. Central Hardware, Sander's True Value Hardware, and Sears donated supples for his project. A senior at Cape Central High School, he is a member of Cape Central High Orchestra, the tennis team, and Spanish Club.

Scott Hartline is the son of Barney and Chris Hartline, 2002 Brink. He earned 21 merit badges and completed 35 hours for his service project. He built horseshoe pits at the North Cape County Park to provide extra recreational facilities for the public. A senior at Cape Central High School, he is a member of the speech and debate teams.

Joshua C. Lee is the son of Tom and Gay Lee of 220 Camellia. He earned 26 merit badges and devoted 25 hours completing his service project. He built a bench on the courthouse lawn in Cape Girardeau. The bench overlooks the river and downtown area. An eighth-grader at Cape Central High School, he is also a member of the Order of the Arrow.

Jeremiah Lee is the son of Tom and Gay Lee, 220 Camellia. He earned 29 merit badges and devoted 26 hours to completing his service project. He built a bench at First Baptist Church for the elderly to use while waiting on their rides home from church. He is a 10th-grader at Cape Central High School.

Kris Naeger is the son of Rick and Vicki Naeger, 1906 Northbridge. He earned 21 merit badges and devoted 25 hours completing his service project. He built a 53-foot wheelchair access sidewalk to Mount Auburn Christian Church. A ninth-grader at Cape Central Junior High School, he is also a member of the Order of the Arrow.

Eric McGowen is the son of Jim and Marcia McGowen, 1938 Westwood. He earned 24 merit badges and devoted 26 hours to completing his service project. He built miniature road signs for a tricycle safety course and laid out track for Egyptian preschool in Tamms, Ill. to help the children learn about traffic safety.

A 10th-grader at Cape Central High School, he is a member of National Junior Beta Club and jazz band. He participated in Math Counts, Knowledge Master, Scholar Bowl, and was a state finalist in the Missouri Teachers of Mathematics contest. He is a member of Order of the Arrow.
