CHARLESTON, Mo. -- A Charleston man facing a first-degree murder charge for a shooting outside a nightclub will be tried in Butler County.

Devonte Johnson, 18, waived arraignment Tuesday at the Mississippi County Courthouse, according to Leigh Ann Colson, circuit court clerk.

His defense lawyer filed for a change of venue to Butler County, according to Colson. Butler County will process the case and set a court date, she said.

The charges are for the Aug. 13 shooting death of 28-year-old Nicholas A. Munn outside of Bro's Kickin' on West Marshall Street in Charleston. Charges also include armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

Johnson is currently being held without bond in the Mississippi County Detention Center.
