Tambra Turner, who faces first-degree murder charges for a Cape Girardeau killing in early 2008, will be tried in St. Louis County, Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle said Tuesday.
Turner's attorney, public defender Jennifer Booth, requested a change of venue for the case July 27, and the court decided on St. Louis County on Monday, Swingle said.
The 21st Judicial Circuit, which represents St. Louis County, has a list to keep track of which judge is due to next preside over a murder case, Swingle said.
"They don't want one judge to get stuck" with all of them, he said.
In the 32nd Judicial Circuit, which encompasses Cape Girardeau, Perry and Bollinger counties, the cases are doled out to judges based on availability.
Turner is accused of killing 20-year-old Chabreshea Egson on Feb. 23, 2008, at a residence on North Spanish Street.
Swingle declined to comment on whether the case is expected to go to trial, as opposed to resulting in a plea.
