PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- A Perryville woman accused of using a steak knife to injure her husband in February had her case set for trial Tuesday in a Cape Girardeau County courtroom.
Circuit Court Judge Benjamin F. Lewis scheduled Rachel M. Bohnert's jury trial to begin Sept. 28. Bohnert was arrested in February by Perry County authorities after they responded to a call of a domestic disturbance at their home on Highway 51 near Perryville.
Bohnert allegedly stabbed her spouse in the neck. The 30-year-old is charged with armed criminal action and first-degree domestic assault, both felonies.
Bohnert's case was transferred to Cape Girardeau County from Perry County in mid-April, after Bohnert hired a private attorney to represent her. A public defender withdrew from the case a few weeks before the change of venue.
