ADVANCE -- Youngsters this summer and fall are getting a taste of music, theater even cheerleading through programs offered by the Tri-County Arts Association.
Tri-County Arts Association is a non-profit organization serving Stoddard, Bollinger and Cape Girardeau counties.
The summer sessions are wrapping up. Awards for the cheerleading program were presented Aug. 6 at the Tri-County Arts Building in Advance. Cheerleaders in both junior high and senior divisions performed.
Two local groups, His Will, which performs religious music, and Human Zoo, a rock band, will perform Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Tri-County Arts building. Admission is $2. Children ages 5 and under are admitted free.
The play "Tom Sawyer" will be performed Labor Day weekend as a musical by members of a theater class, taught by Sherry Mitchell, Cindy Gilliland and Deana Middleton.
Fall classes are scheduled to begin after Labor Day.
Classes offered include martial arts, cheerleading, gymnastics and theater.
Classes range in price from $15 to $30 per month. Students may sign up at the Aug. 17 concert.
