A tree fell and knocked out power to about 100 Union Electric customers Thursday night. The power outage here was among several reported throughout Southeast Missouri Thursday.
Calvin Wells, customer service supervisor with Union Electric, blamed the outages on Thursday night's rain, lightening and wind.
He said a tree fell between Cape Girardeau and Jackson fell during the storm, knocking down a primary power line. Electricity was off from approximately 10:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
As a result of the power outage cable service was disrupted for customers of TCI Cablevision, said Roger Harms. The electricity to the cable company's receiving station was off.
Wells said about 500 customers in the Chaffee area were without power for about an hour and 1400 customers near Lilburn were without power Thursday. Outages were also reported near Minor, he said.
