SIKESTON - The Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission has awarded a contract for the resurfacing of asphalt highways in Cape Girardeau, Scott, and Stoddard Counties.
The $665,827.72 contract was awarded to Girardeau Contractors, Inc. of Cape Girardeau. Work could begin as early as April. Completion is expected by Oct. 1.
District Ten Highway Engineer Freeman McCullah said the contract includes resurfacing of 13.8 miles of Route N, from Leopold east to Route 25 at Delta; 7.1 miles of Route O, from Route 25 at Advance east to Route P at Painton; 7.4 miles of Route W, from Route P, near Perkins, east to Route 77 in Oran; 0.8 of a mile of Route 91 in Morley, between Highway 61 and Route C; 4.8 miles of Route C, from Route 91 in Morley east to Route H; and 7.9 miles of Route E, from Route 77 in Benton to the end of state maintanence at Commerce.
Also included in the contract is the resurfacing of the Lake Boutin beach access road and the upper campsite access road at Trail of Tears State Park.
