Sally Ralph of Westchester, Ohio, formerly of Cape Girardeau, has been named independent sales director for Mary Kay Cosmetics Inc.
In her new position, Ralph will provide training, guidance, leadership and motivation to other Mary Kay independent beauty consultants in Cape Girardeau and in Westchester.
She joined Mary Kay in September 1982 as a beauty consultant.
Ralph recently attended a weeklong training seminar at Mary Kay's international headquarters in Dallas, where she received training on product knowledge, sales techniques, business management and fashion trends.
Mary Kay manufactures and distributes more than 200 skin-care, glamour, hair-care, body care, nail-care and fragrance products through a worldwide sales force of more than 200,000 independent beauty consultants.

Alice Benton and Carolyn Rouviere, both of Cape Girardeau were recently elected to the Missouri Cosmetology Association Board of Directors during the association's annual state convention at Lake of the Ozarks.
Several area cosmetologists attended the convention, including Paul Burleson, Paula Harper, Carlotta Kosby, Emily Tuschhoff, Jeannie Kitchen, Patty Cook, Jody Montgomery, Tony Helmes, Brian Derton, Stephen Quick, Gary Stroder, Brenda Grass, Elise Domnick, Fay Earnhart, Joan Foeste and Emily Duschell.
Classes were conducted on hair replacements, haircutting techniques, facial treatments, corrective makeup and other topics. Several beauty firms exhibited their products during the convention.
Derton of Hair Biz and Helmes each won first places in state competition. Derton, a native of Marble Hill and graduate of Stage One The Hair School, was first in western fantasy and Helmes was tops in best mask competition. Also participating in contests were Rouviere in the movie star contest and quick most points competition.
Tuschhoff received training as district coordinator for the "Look Good, Feel Better" program, which helps women cancer patients improve their appearance and self-image by teaching them beauty techniques.

Tony Ivie, owner and manager of Precision Prosthodontics, 1028 N. Kingshighway, recently earned the title of c ertified dental technician in the specialty of ceramics from the National Board of Certification.
Ivie received a bachelor-of-science degree in art from Southeast Missouri State University in 1985. In 1987, he was awarded an associate's degree with highest academic honors in dental laboratory technology from St. Louis Community College.
He opened Precision Prosthodontics, a crown and bridge laboratory, in 1989.
