Dr. Jack "Duke" Rushin has been selected Missouri representative to the International Chiropractic Association for a two-year term starting Feb. 2.

Rushin is second vice president of the Missouri State Chiropractic Association.

Lyn Muzzy, director of the Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau, recently attended the National Tour Association's annual convention in Seattle.

The convention featured the Tour and Travel Exchange, a forum for buying and selling of travel services, and approximately 50 professional development seminars.

The association has a membership of 570 tour companies, 2,300 travel-industry supplier companies, and 800 destination marketing organizations that include state tourism offices and convention and visitors bureaus.

Approximately 3,200 delegates attended.

Susan Farrow, outpatient oncology nurse at Southeast Missouri Hospital's Regional Cancer Center, has completed requirements for Oncology Nursing certification.

The national certification is open to registered nurses with at least three years of experience and a minimum of 1,000 hours of oncology nursing practice. Nurses must pass an examination for certification.

Farrow has been associated with Southeast since 1987. She is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with bachelor of science and master's degrees in nursing.

She is medical-surgical-nurse, chemotherapy-administration and central-catheters certified. She serves as secretary-treasurer of the Southeast Missouri chapter of the Southeast Missouri Oncology Nursing Society.

Dr. Roy P. Meyer recently attended postdoctoral relicensing for acupuncture at Logan College of Chiropractic.

New approaches for treatment of migraines, carpal tunnel and spinal disc problems were among topics.

Meyer has practiced acupuncture since 1988 at Meyer Chiropractic Center, 73 Sheridan.

Mitchell Mayberry, consumer loan officer at Mercantile Bank of Cape Girardeau, recently graduated from National Consumer Credit School at the University of Oklahoma-Norman.

Mayberry has been with Mercantile since April 1991. Mayberry, his wife, Mary, and children, Angela and Nick, reside in Cape Girardeau.

Cherie Stembel, customer service representative of Albrecht-Hodges Insurance Agency Inc., 1758 Independence, recently completed the annual continuing education requirement of the Society of Certified Insurance Service Representatives in Austin, Texas.

To become a certified representative, an individual must attend five courses covering all phases of the insurance business and pass five examinations. The society also requires annual attendance in the program to maintain certification.

Stembel, who has been in insurance for eight years, has been certified since 1991.

Dr. Gary J. Bridges, a Cape Girardeau chiropractor, recently attended the 40th anniversary Footlevelers Seminar in Orlando, Fla.

Foot Levelers Inc., established in 1952, serves chiropractors and their patients. It offers a number of exercise-system products to improve muscular tone, strength and endurance, which are important in musculo-skeletal rehabilitation. Participants in the seminar received 12 hours of continuing education credits.

Bridges, a graduate of Logan College of Chiropractic, is a diplomat of the National Board Basic Science. He is a member of Southeast Missouri District IV and Missouri Chiropractic Associations. He is with Accident and Back Care Center, 1302 N. Kingshighway.
