Robert P. Rueseler, manager of the Cape Girardeau office of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance, has been named Agent of the Year.
He has been a leading producer for the firm since joining it in 1988. In 1992 he ranked in the top five among agency associates in disability income, investments, first-year commissions and number of policies sold.
The Cape Girardeau office is part of the St. Louis-Kickham Agency, which represents Massachusetts Mutual in the states of Missouri and Southwest Illinois.
The company, headquartered in Springfield, Mass., has reached the milestone of $100 billion of individual life insurance coverage in force in its insurance and financial management product line.
The firm, founded in 1851, is one of the 100 largest businesses in the U.S.

David L. Hahs, Edward P. Gargas and Kurt N. May were recently honored for sales by Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co.
Hahs was cited as a leader in sales of the local district agency for 1992, having produced $13,114,499 of volume with $209,407 of premiums on 237 lives. Hahs has been with Northwestern since 1972.
Hahs, his wife, Candy, and sons, Brandon and Clayton, reside in Cape Girardeau.
Gargas received the Bull 'O the Woods trophy for largest percentage of sales over his quota for the last six months of 1992. He produced 148 percent of his goal.
Gargas, who lives in Cape Girardeau, has completed his first full year with the firm. D. Joe McKeon of Cape Girardeau was runner-up for the award, producing 125 percent of his quota.
May was honored for being Northwestern's leading district agency group insurance specialist for 1992. May and his assistants, Sissy Burnett and Kathy King, produced more new group insurance business than any of the company's other districts.
May, his wife, Erin, daughter, Bevin, and son, Cody, reside in Whitewater.
The local NML agency was founded 45 years ago. The awards dinner was hosted by district agent T. Ronald Hahs and Mrs. Hahs.

Debbie Bickings, a stylist at Special Effect Styling Salon, 121 South Broadview, was recently named stylist of the year at the shop.
The award is presented annually. The recipient is selected by workers of the salon.
Bickings, a stylist for more than 10 years, has been employed at Special Effects for more than three years.

Russell Boswell, senior technician at Cape-Kil Pest Control Co., has received the company's technician of the year award.
"This honor is presented to the technician with the highest volume of profitable business for the year," said H.W. "Hank" Williams, manager.
Elizabeth A. Knote, president of Cape Chemical Co. and Cape-Kil Pest Control, presented the award during a December sales and award meeting.
Russell has been employed at Cape-Kil seven years. He has completed the Purdue pest control technology course. He is a lieutenant and emergency medical technician with the East Cape County Fire Department.
Russell, his wife, Robin, and children, Joshua and Tabitha, reside in Cape Girardeau.
